Analysing Opening Scenes - 'Jaws'

The first opening scene I will be looking at is for the horror film 'Jaws', directed by Steven Spielberg. 

The scene contains the following conventions typically found in opening sequences: 

• Production company logos/idents 
• Titles - including cast and crew and the name of the film 
• Introducing the setting 
• Introducing characters (though not the main characters)
• Creating enigma/mystery 
• Indicating genre through music, setting and lighting
