Analysing Opening Sequences - Introduction

In these next few blog posts I will be looking at five opening scenes from different genres to try and find the recurring conventions that are common in opening sequences. I plan to include the most common of these in my own opening scene.

I have chosen to look at the following opening scenes:

'Jaws' (Horror)

'There's Something About Mary' (Romantic Comedy)

'Passengers' (Science Fiction)

'Inglourious Basterds' (War)

'The Dark Knight' (Superhero)
