Analysing Opening Scenes - 'There's Something About Mary'

The second opening scene I will be looking at is from 'There's Something About Mary', a romantic comedy starring Cameron Diaz and Ben Stiller.

The scene contains the following conventions commonly found in opening sequences: 

• Production company logos/idents 
• Titles - including cast and crew, names of production companies, the title of the film
• Introduces the main characters 
• Reflects the genre through music, character types, colour palette
